Introduction: Scripture Reading- Jeremiah 29:10-13
- Everyone longs to know their purpose.
- God doesn’t create without intention—your life is not random.
- Jeremiah 29:11 is a promise that God has a plan, even when life feels uncertain.
I. God’s Purpose Is Personal
- Exodus 4:10-14 [Read] (God’s purpose for Moses and Aaron)
- We were created in the image of God; however…
- God’s plan for you and me isn’t one-size-fits-all.
- He knows your name, your story, your gifts.
- Psalm 139:13–14: “(13) For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. (14) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

II. Purpose Is Discovered, Not Decided
- We don’t invent our purpose—we uncover it by walking with God.
- Proverbs 3:5–6: “(5) Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
- Purpose unfolds over time, often through trials and growth.
III. Purpose Requires Obedience
- Walking in purpose means saying “yes” to God even when it’s uncomfortable.
- Genesis 12:1-4 [Read] Abraham stepped into purpose by obeying God’s commands, even if though he didn’t fully understand.
- Mark 12:30 “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” (Deut. 6:5)
- Our love and our service in the work of the Lord is unique; Ephesians 4:11-12 “(11) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; (12) For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
- God gave each of us talents and we use them in a different way. No preachers should preach exactly alike, the content, yes, but not the manner or way they preach that message.
- Obedience positions us for impact.
IV. Purpose Impacts Others
- Your purpose isn’t just about you—it’s about who you serve.
- Matthew 5:13-14: “(13) Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour [become a fool or foolish], wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. (14) Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
You are the light of the world.”
- When you walk in purpose, others find hope, healing, and direction.
Conclusion:
- Ask: “Am I walking in God’s purpose or just going through the motions?”
- What gifts has God given you? What burdens stir your heart?
- Revelation 4:11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
- Everyone was created for God’s pleasure; however, that doesn’t me that we were all created for the same purpose. The talents that God gave you are unique and wonderful, now use them how He intended for them to be used.
