God Has Your Six
Introduction: Scripture Reading- Ephesians 6:10-18
In military terms, “watching your six” means covering your back—your most vulnerable position. Spiritually, we all have blind spots, battles, and moments of weakness. But when we walk in obedience and faith, God promises to be our protector, our rear guard, and our strength.
- Romans 8:31 – “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
Psalm 121:7–8 – “The Lord will keep you from all harm—He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
1. God’s Protection Is Conditional on Our Position
- Joshua 1:1–9 – God tells Joshua to be strong and courageous as long as he obeys the law.
- Being “on God’s side” means walking in His will, not just asking Him to bless our plans.
- Mat 3:8-10 John the Immerser: “(8) Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: (9) And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. (10) And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.”
- Illustration: A soldier outside formation is vulnerable. So are we when we step outside God’s covering.
2. God Covers What We Can’t See
- Isaiah 52:1-12 – “The Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.”
- Ephesians 6:10-18
- God sees the attacks we don’t. He defends us from spiritual warfare, temptation, and unseen dangers.
- Application: Trust God with the unknowns—your future, your relationships, your health, etc.
3. Loyalty Goes Both Ways
- James 4:1–8 – “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
- God is loyal to those who are loyal to Him. He doesn’t abandon His people—but He does call us to submit.
- James 2:14-26
- Challenge: Are you truly on God’s side, or just asking Him to be on yours?
4. Confidence in the Fight
- 2 Kings 6:16–17 – Elisha tells his servant, “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
- When we know God has our six, we can face any battle with courage.
- Hebrews 4:14-16; 13:1-6
- Encouragement: You’re not alone. Heaven backs you up when you walk in obedient faith.
Conclusion:
Ask yourself:
- Am I walking in obedience or just asking for protection?
- Do I trust God with what I can’t see?
- Am I living like someone who knows God has my six?
